The Power of Perception: The Fine Line between National Hero and War Criminal
Have you ever wondered how the public perception of our national hero’s and war criminals have formed and changed throughout history? Who decides if someone is celebrated or crucified for their actions?
This years debate will focus not only on public perception of some of the most debated personas in history and present time, but also on how institutions such as the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia contribute to these associations.
Radost, the study association for Russian and Slavic studies, has joined forces with SES, the study association for European Studies, and welcomes you to join us for a heated debate on the 15th of May. Leading up to the debate we will post some sample cases of personas, such as Slobodan Milošević, to give you a concrete idea as to what will be discussed.
Still not convinced? We have organized two amazing guest lecturers and there is no obligation to speak up unless you want to, and plenty of new facts to be discovered. Also its free of charge, snacks and drinks included. There will be a borrel afterwards.
