Are you enjoying Amsterdam?
Are you interested in history?
Do you want to get to know the city better?
Do you want to meet new people?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions posted above, we’ve got good news for you! The SES is organizing a visit to the Amsterdam Museum, especially for first-years!
The Amsterdam Museum sheds a light on the VOC, Ajax, Rembrandt, the Red Light District, Johan Cruijff and many other elements that make up the interesting history of our enchanting city. The extensive collection, which ranges from Old Masters to football prizes to bongs, contains something for everyone.
The visit will take place on the 10th of October at 15:30, right after the Turning Points lecture, and we will meet in front of the museum (Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 359). The participation fee will be €2,50 and can be paid in cash or by bank transfer. If you’d like to join, don’t forget to sign up via the form below. We very much hope to see you there!
In collaboration with the Eastern Neighbours Film Festival, SES is hosting a film screening! The film that will be screened is “My own private war”, a documentary by the Sarajevo-born Dutch director Lidija Zelovic. The film is a very touching investigation into difficult questions about identity, responsibility, belonging, and different narratives of the Balkan war that has altered the lives of the people there beyond repair.
Before the film, a small introduction about the period will be held by Josip Kesic. The director and the ENFF team will be present to discuss the film and to answer questions. Attedance is free; to sign up, fill in this form!
On the 4th October the Study Associations of the Humanities will be hosting their Introduction Party!

For SES members, Tuesday night is the most important time of the week. Every single week the core of the association gathers to have a drink, which is characterized by the typical cozy SES atmosphere. Unfortunately, there will only be a few more borrels left for this year… Because of that, we will end the year with a bang! On Thursday the 29th of June, we will have our final borrel of the year. Get ready for a fun ending of the year!
Note: there will not be a borrel on the 27th of June.
