Corona Update #3
We hope all of you are doing well and are still managing to entertain yourself with jigsaws, online pilates sessions and trying out the latest Jamie Oliver recipes. (At least that’s what the Board is up to these days)
As you might have heard already, the current measures and restrictions on events have been extended to the 1st of September. Unfortunately, this also includes the SES events, which had been planned for the following months, namely our beloved Active Members Weekend, the Lustrum Gala as well as the renowned Hitchhike Competition. For now, we also do not plan on holding any other small events such as our weekly borrels, but in case the tides will turn, we will of course adapt our schedule. In case of the Lustrum Gala, the committee will inform all participants about its plans and other necessary information. We are deeply saddened by the prospect of finishing this year with nothing more than Zoom and Skype sessions, but we’ll make it work (virtual pinky promise) 🤞
Until we can reunite at our first official post-pandemic SES event, keep up the good spirit and do your best to #flattenthecurve!
Corona Update #2
As you can probably tell by our almost obligatory Skype session picture, we finally have new updates in regard to how we will proceed in the upcoming weeks. First of all, we hope that you and your families are healthy and well. These are challenging and unusual times for all of us, and we hope that each and every one of you is taking the necessary precautions to prevent a further spread of the pandemic. If not necessary, we advise you to stay at home as much as possible, reduce social physical contact to a minimum and always remember to wash your hands. We know this can be difficult, but the more we all stick to these rules, the earlier we will be able to meet each other again and make sure that we end this academic year on the right note!
The updates given to you in our last update will remain as they are: the SES office will be closed until further notice and so far, all events that have been scheduled until the end of April will be cancelled, including the Study Trip 2020. We as the Board are deeply saddened by the fact that events such as the Conference and Study Trip have to be cancelled but we do believe that this step is the only adequate measure to take at the moment. Nevertheless, we would to take this opportunity to thank the Conference and Travel Committee for all the hard work they have put into the association and truly hope that we will be able to find suitable solutions for these missed events.
Withal, we would like to remind you that the Board and the committee members are working hard on keeping the association as active as possible in the upcoming weeks. Eurovisie will continue to publish its articles online, and you can look forward to online events. For those of you who are thinking about applying to the Board 2020/2021, we will organise a follow-the-Board-around week and an online Board information evening soon. Keep an eye open for further info on that on our social media accounts!
One last tip, if you are among the people, who stay in Amsterdam or live here anyway, feel healthy and do not know what to do with all your spare time (especially after having your exams), a lot of organisations are looking for volunteers, who could for example support elderly people. In case you are interested, check out this link, which will redirect you to one of the organisations which coordinates volunteers in the Netherlands.
That’s it for now folks! If you do have exams next week, we wish you good luck and are crossing fingers. But most importantly, stay safe and stay healthy!
Corona Update #1
Dear SES members,
In light of the measures introduced by the UvA in regard to the Covid-19 outbreak yesterday, we are very sorry to inform you that all our events will have to be cancelled until the 1st of April.
Consequently, there will be no St. Patrick’s Day Borrel next Tuesday and regular Borrel the following week. Furthermore, our Study Trip Information Evening will be postponed until further notice and the SES office will remain closed for the rest of the month. In the upcoming days and weeks we will further inform you on any developments concerning our events in April. In case you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to send us an E-mail or contact us via our social media.
We hope you are understanding of these measures we have to take and hope to see you all as soon as possible. Until then, make sure to check for upcoming updates on all our social media accounts. Also make sure to cough in your elbows and wash your hands using our very own SES edition hand-washing technique ❤
Stay safe and healthy!
